I suppose Barney Drew, in many ways, reflects my own take on life, but the story began with a desire to capture Humour and to develop my ability to convey it effectively in my writing.
In truth, this tale was originally planned as a short story, but from the moment pen touched paper, it grew legs, offering a more extensive plot and the realisation that a couple of thousand words would be insufficient to do it justice. This entirely fictional project became something of an obsession, creating characters who drag me headlong in a ‘Walter Mitty’ style of creativity.
However, the driving force behind writing is to have my work read. Having published two novels to date and written many short stories, my readers are confined to friends and family who pass along encouraging comments, which I appreciate a great deal. This is a completely new project, and as creativity spills, I intend to make each sentence of the first draft available to anyone who registers interest in reading it. Although the plot is in place, the adventure is just beginning, so it’s a journey, although basic and in an emerging format, which will undoubtedly change as development reveals progress. Amend
